Please fill out the form below to make a proposal for a performance or a workshop.

Performances

Does your band want to play? Are you a singer/songwriter? Do you DJ? Do you have a performance art piece you’d like to share? Are you part of a poetry/art/dance/etc collective? Email us at queergathering@twinoaks.org with your performance idea! We have a covered stage and plenty of room for dancing and other forms of participation.

Note: This is a participant-driven event in which all kinds of contributions are on a volunteer basis and valued equally (from leading workshops to kitchen help to childcare to musical acts). As such, we don’t pay performers or have a special discount rate but rather utilize a sliding scale model in which everyone pays what they can. Generally, entrance to the event is sliding scale $40-140 plus everyone does a 2-hour workshift. We also have a work trade option which is $20 per person plus an extra work shift. Performers/presenters can count their concert(s) or workshop(s) towards their workshifts. You can pre-register at eventbrite or pay when you get here. Presenters are encouraged to participate in the whole weekend!

Camping is the standard accommodation; indoor accommodations are available for a fee. Please contact queergathering@twinoaks.org for more information.

Workshops

The Twin Oaks Queer Gathering is open for workshop proposals! Do you have an idea for a workshop you would be interested in offering at the Queer Gathering? Please fill out the form below.

Here is a list of some workshop topics we´d like to see included in the weekend, but also we are open to hearing proposals about any other content that you are passionate about, which could include other queer-related issues or also topics that are not specifically queer-related, eg. skill sharing, arts & crafts, sustainability, Black Lives Matter activism, personal/interpersonal growth, etc.

-trans identity
-gender identity
-queer in and out of community, economic justice
-queer relationship models, how to love and treat each other
-misogyny and privilege in trans spaces
-consent
-resistance, political organizing
-domestic violence in queer communities
-heart circles

See https://twinoaksqueergathering.org/workshop-examples/ for descriptions of past workshops 🙂

Workshops can be open to anyone at the gathering to participate in, or can also be limited to a certain demographic who may share specific experiences/concerns, etc. We assume that workshops will be open to any participant at the event; if you want something different than that, please indicate that clearly in your description.

Workshop slots are one-and-a-half hours long. The conference site is rustic and mostly outdoors. There is limited electrical access. Presentations requiring projectors or amplified sound can be accommodated if requested in advance.
